The Fifth Sessions Feedback Report (FSFR) of a 77 year old man afflicted with stroke-related paralysis and undergoing CPBS training at New Delhi showed an excellent improvement across various parameters over just 16 sessions.

Here is what was reported in the patient’s recent FSFR after 10 sessions. The gains are healthy and across the board:

(A)  20% improvement in Expressing emotions appropriately (e.g. feeling happy when praised or sad when punished); and Sleeping better and soundly.

In order to assess the results of CTB training, Cerebra uses the Autism Milestone Assessment Checklist (Au-MAC) to assess changes in the trainee. The Au-MAC is measured before commencement of CTB training and then, after every 10 sessions. Changes are noted and then calculated on a quantitative scale, for easy comparison. On Day 0. if a child has a score of 50%, this means that he/she is 50% of normalcy on the parameters being tested on, 100% being absolutely normal. If the Au-MAC post-session 10 has a score of 65%, this signifies improvement from the previous score of 50%, and shows that the child is now 65% normal. The Au-MAC scores can be split down to very minute behavioural changes, allowing us to monitor changes on a very granular level.

Now for the interesting news…

Before starting CTB training, a girl diagnosed with Autism in New Delhi had a baseline (i.e. day 0) Au-MAC  percentage score of 65.00%. After completing her 10th session of CTB training, her Au-MAC score improved to 68.67%. At the end of her 21st session of CTB training, the girl’s  Au-MAC percentage score was 83.34%.

This progress is phenomenal by any standards, and shows that the child is now very close to normalcy (100% would indicate complete normalcy). It should be noted that this is just after the 21st session, hence, just half of the Base Camp 40 sessions module.

As per the feedback provided by the girl’s parents,  this improvement in her Au-MAC score was the result of  significant improvement in her social behavior, academic performance, speech pattern, self confidence, mental control and overall physical health.

I didn’t want to fail because my family would blame me if my report card came out with any “O” and I would have to take the examination again. But I didn’t know if I could pass it. Also I would be blamed for not paying attention to my studies. My grades were not so satisfactory.”

“At the beginning of using this machine, I didn’t feel much change, but my grades started changing a bit. After I used the machine more than 30 sessions, my examination results changed from failing in many subjects to just only one subject. My grade point average improved gradually from 2.0 up to 2.79 and higher until finally I could pass all the subjects, especially mathematics which changed to grade 2, 3 and 4. Report of Fang’s mother on Sept 14, 2002

After using the machine for almost two years, we noticed the following change in Fang, our son

He is more independent knows how to choose the type of dress he likes. He pay more attention to his surroundings and behaves more like other teenagers, for example listening to music, knowing the singers and bands.

He expresses his emotions more by showing both anger and happiness appropriately. In the past he never showed his emotions to people around him and didn’t pay attention to whatever people said. He was always in his own world. In school, he walked alone and didn’t pay attention to the other students. Now he can even tell jokes to other people. He is now interested in people, likes to know who they are, what he’s going to do. Now he know how to communicate more with people and wants to make friends.

His learning skills are improving noticeably. Before he couldn’t understand arithmetics at all. He was confused and couldn’t even memorize the “multiplication table”. He had difficulty with mathematics calculation. His grade were around 0 to 1 only. Now he can understand this subject well, he isn’t afraid of it anymore. His current grade average in this subject is 3 to 4.

He has more reasonable, mature thinking.

He resembles the other children of the same age group. He was knows the tricks and how to avoid and get himself out of occasional problems.

Another Parent’s report on Aug. 25, 2003

Pop, a boy 9 years old with problems of restless, sensitive, fearful, absent-minded, attention deficit, talk and act repetitively, lack of thinking and imagination, deficiency in social functions and learning ability.

He was an autistic child, received treatment and care from medical doctor since he was two and half years old. He started talking when he was 4 years old. He could attend regular class in school when he was 6 years old, but he used memory rather than understanding in his study.

He started the HEG treatment program since December 1999. Now he studies in grade 7 in private school. He could gain more grade of 65-70% instead of 50% in each subject. He was improved his learning because he could understand the lesson better. His mathematic and arithmetic problem solution was also improved. He had more attention in listening and reading. His impulsive behavior was less. He could chat and play with his friends.

I believed that the HEG treatment apparently evidences my son’s development in all aspects greatly, so our family was very happy.


Improved Memory

“Poor memory has also been traced to these episodes of inattention. Significant memory improvements have been a hallmark of HEG training. Tests of memory normalized to 100 points for the age and education of the population are routinely given before each 10 sessions.”

“These tests, averaged over a group of 28 subjects, show a linear increased memory score of 1.2 points per session. This amounts to a highly significant gain of two standard deviations in 30 sessions”.

Attention Training

“Inability to maintain focus is a hallmark of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). Neurofeedback to date has not been focused on this particular facet of this disorder. Rather correction of brain electrical activity has been the norm. Training graphs of Hemoencephalography (HEG) reveal failures of attention as they are happening. Queries of the trainee about thoughts at these times reveals the wandering thoughts that invade attention and prevent continued focus.

Brain plasticity studies reveal the tremendous capacity of the brain to meet a repetitive focused demand for behavior change. With repetition these changes become habits requiring no conscious attention.

Classical EEG neurofeedback meets the ADD challenge by repeated sessions devoted to changing brain electrical activity. One clear behavior demanded by this training is repetitive focus on a prescribed activity for many sessions. This may well be habit forming!

HEG, on the other hand, lends itself to behavior training where focus is constantly measured. A new attention measurement has been devised. This measurement is continuously presented for maximization by the trainee. At the end of each trial a final score for attention is recorded, graphed, and presented for progress evaluation.

Clinical trials show this to be an effective method whereby focus becomes better session-by-session.”

It’s a Gold Mind!

“I was aware that I was “different” as early as third grade. Although I excelled in spelling, mathematics was a mystery. I achieved consistent honor status in high school. I graduated from University and was propelled into perpetual “studenthood” with information and the ability to process it. Forty years past college with accomplishments, and an M.A. in Psychology, I still doubted my abilities. Long-range memory had deficits in recalling facts. I used coping skills to maneuver through life. Working memory was greatly impaired.

When books on ADD such as I’m Not Lazy, Crazy or Stupid and Driven to Distraction became available, I was stunned by the clear description of my life experience. Spacing out and missing parts of conversations was my experience since childhood. This year I discovered the miracle of how HEG restores function to those whose lives have been colored by ADD.

The first segment, in ten sessions of brain exercise, documented by before and after testing clearly demonstrated gains in every category. Old telephone numbers and random bits of the past reappeared, reassuring me they were retrievable from the bottomless black hole of my mind. I no longer write everything down to remember.

The second session allowed me to find a solution to a problem not previously apparent and spark new directions in conversation with my husband. After 10 sessions I began to feel happy most of the time for no reason. I am enjoying interaction with others more than ever.

When areas of the brain work well, memory, recall, information processing, and action are effortless and natural. My mind feels like it’s waking up from a deep sleep. I’m beginning to like and respect myself.
